The basement is a great place to live

The basement is a great place to live

Thanks to innovative daylight solutions from Heliobus AG, the basement can be used as a fully-fledged living and working space.

By installing walk-on Glassfloor skylights in combination with innovative HeliobusMirror shaft® systems, we have created an optimal daylight supply in the basement of a private property in Switzerland. Our walk-in skylights also provide a view of the outside, which almost raises the sense of space in the basement to the level of a first floor area.

You can see the impressive result of this conversion via the Video icon. See for yourself how state-of-the-art technology and sophisticated design come together to create exceptional living space.

Emil Frey Autocity Zurich - Glassfloor® chrome

At Thurgauerstrasse 35 in Zurich-Oerlikon, Garage Zürich Nord is a modern new building for Emil Frey AG. The building offers space for various car brands on seven upper floors and three basement floors - including spacious exhibition areas, event zones and state-of-the-art infrastructure.

In this challenging inner-city construction project with complex geological conditions, 10 walk-on Glassfloor® skylights from Heliobus AG were used. They were installed on the terrace and provide natural daylight to the driveway and customer entrance area below.

The skylights fit seamlessly into the architectural concept and show how innovative daylight solutions can be aesthetically and functionally effective - especially in dense urban spaces.

Elementary school Pfyn - Glassfloor chrome

As part of the partial renovation of the elementary school in Pfyn, 11 GLASSFLOOR Chrome skylights provide an impressive supply of daylight in the basement. The walk-on, non-slip flat roof windows not only bring natural daylight into the underground passageway to the classrooms, but also serve as a safe break area for the children.

Thanks to its perfect integration into the architecture, the GLASSFLOOR Chrome from Heliobus sets modern accents and improves both the quality of light and the indoor climate.

Four walkable skylights blend harmoniously into the playground of the new Kočevje Kindergarten building in Slovenia. The rooms below are flooded with plenty of daylight and new, exciting perspectives are created for the children. The round skylights of the Glassfloor circle design can be walked on and are slip-proof for hazard-free romping during recess. The collaboration took place with the architectural firm Svet Vmes, which has already innovatively planned and implemented numerous school projects in Slovenia.

Seven GLASSFLOOR are installed on the two break areas of the Töss school complex. Despite their large glass surface, the skylights meet enormous structural requirements: a point load of 2 tons per 20×20 cm and a surface load of one ton per square meter. The skylights can thus even be driven over. A slip resistance ensures that children can play safely no matter what the weather.

Daylight solution for St. Leonhard cycle tunnel

At the St.Leonhard-Strasse in St.Gallen, the busy intersection is to be freed from non-motorised traffic. For this purpose, a bicycle tunnel is planned under the intersection. In order to make the underground tunnel as pleasant as possible for cyclists and pedestrians, light is to be brought into the tunnel via various daylight systems. Heliobus® was consulted as a daylight expert from the very beginning in order to create the most pleasant atmosphere possible in the tunnel.
