Gasthaus Hof Appenzell - Glassfloor® firestop

Sleep like a log—with natural light. At the Gasthaus Hof in Appenzell, a former bowling alley has been transformed into a modern boutique hotel. Where balls once rolled, there are now twelve stylish guest rooms, each measuring about 12 square meters.

This unique conversion was made possible by innovative daylighting technology from Heliobus®. Glassfloor® directs natural light into the basement, creating bright, welcoming spaces that are surprisingly pleasant to be in.

The Glassfloor® elements used combine natural light, walkable glass architecture, and high safety standards—including a fire protection solution designed for demanding building applications.

The result is an extraordinary hotel concept: located underground, yet bright, safe, and atmospheric. It serves as an example of how existing spaces can be Daylight Engineering and architecturally enhanced through thoughtful Daylight Engineering .
