We transform dark basements and trapped rooms into daylit living and working spaces with our specially developed daylight solutions. Let yourself be inspired by the various projects we have realised.

walkable skylights for kindergarten

walkable skylights for kindergarten

Four walkable skylights blend harmoniously into the playground of the new Kočevje Kindergarten building in Slovenia. The rooms below are flooded with plenty of daylight and new, exciting perspectives are created for the children. The round skylights of the Glassfloor circle design can be walked on and are slip-proof for hazard-free romping during recess. The collaboration took place with the architectural firm Svet Vmes, which has already innovatively planned and implemented numerous school projects in Slovenia.

Living room in basement full of daylight

Living room in basement full of daylight

Plenty of daylight for a basement living room full of well-being and sun rays. The two mirror shafts direct daylight far into the room and, depending on the position of the sun, create plays of light in the room. Instead of basement shaft wall, you look directly into the sky - and that from basement ! Outside on the first floor, the walk-in light well cover integrates into the terrace without thresholds. The fresh air supply is further ensured via ventilation slots and the armored glass is provided with a strip-shaped slip resistance. The slip resistance is one of numerous optionswhich allow to equip the Mirror Shaft according to individual wishes.

More daylight in the basement workshop

More daylight in the basement workshop

As part of the conversion of the elementary school, existing basement rooms were converted into classrooms. This raised the question of daylighting. Originally, excavations were planned on the north side to create two atriums. However, the necessary dimensioning of one atrium did not harmonize with the existing architecture of the staircase: the parapet around the atrium would have cut off almost half of the staircase. The solution was found with the mirror shafts from Heliobus. The workroom is supplied with sufficient daylight without any loss of space outside, i.e. the existing architecture can continue to be used optimally. The daylight supply via the mirror shafts could also be guaranteed more cost-effectively than by excavating the atrium.

Read a detailed news report on the project here. With voices of the construction planner, Rolf Borer, and the teacher for textile and technical design, Manuela Furrer.

The pictures show it impressively: the mirror shaft directs daylight into the room, so that the light even reaches into the hallway. Guests can now look up at the sky from basement and watch the weather. Thanks to the Mirror Shaft the guest room has gained in atmosphere and well-being and now appears much more inviting and homely.

A long skylight strip of 20 x 1 m floods the swimming hall below with daylight. Another skylight strip of 8.5 x 0.7 m was installed on one of the seating areas for a daylit fitness room. The planning and elaboration was done in cooperation with the architectural office Glasnhof. GLASSFLOOR installed the custom-made system on site.

Seven GLASSFLOOR are installed on the two break areas of the Töss school complex. Despite their large glass surface, the skylights meet enormous structural requirements: a point load of 2 tons per 20×20 cm and a surface load of one ton per square meter. The skylights can thus even be driven over. A slip resistance ensures that children can play safely no matter what the weather.

A fitness room at basement with sauna and shower shines in daylight thanks to the mirror shaft from Heliobus®. So bright and inviting that there is no need for electric light at all. In this project, the customer wanted a full-surface anti-slip cover, which is why the view into the mirror module does not allow a clear view of the sky.

Light Guide in historic residential building

Light Guide in historic residential building

Light Guide Supplies several floors with daylight

Problem Statement:
Little daylight on the upper floor and in the center of the house due to a traditional Bernese cripple hip roof with a low-pitched canopy.

Idea and solution by Heliobus:
Daylight is directed from a roof opening towards the south through a vertical, mirrored shaft from the attic to the upper floor and first floor. Openings with controllable light outlets supply four different rooms with daylight & sunlight.

Light control is individually controllable
A motorized light control allows the user to control the daylight as desired, e.g. maximum daylight enters one room, dimming the unused rooms slightly.

Dermapraxis AG in Wädenswil can now use the basement rooms as fully-fledged practice rooms thanks to the large amount of daylight that falls into them via the mirror shafts. The previously dark and thus unusable rooms for dermatological purposes were equipped with four generous mirror sh afts. The daylight basement rooms now house a day clinic, an examination room, as well as a preparation room for operations and a meeting room. Thanks to the daylight in the basement, patients as well as the staff of the dermatology practice feel comfortable.

At the St.Leonhard-Strasse in St.Gallen, the busy intersection is to be freed from non-motorised traffic. For this purpose, a bicycle tunnel is planned under the intersection. In order to make the underground tunnel as pleasant as possible for cyclists and pedestrians, light is to be brought into the tunnel via various daylight systems. Heliobus® was consulted as a daylight expert from the very beginning in order to create the most pleasant atmosphere possible in the tunnel.

Kindergarten in the basement with daylight

Kindergarten in the basement with daylight

Thanks to sufficient daylight, the Nonnenbach school kindergarten can now also use the basement as a fully-fledged playroom. Five mirror shafts from Heliobus direct the daylight into the basement. The number of children at the Nonnenbach school in Kressbronn has been rising steadily for a few years. For this reason, another movement room and a small group room have been installed in the basement. Inside, the mirror shafts bring in daylight and sunlight; outside, the accessible light well covers of the mirror shafts blend harmoniously into the surroundings.

Full basement in Ascona with daylight

The basement of these exclusive houses in Ascona has been completely converted into living space. With the Mirror Shaft from Heliobus®, the rooms are illuminated with real daylight and thus offer a very pleasant living atmosphere. The available daylight created offices, fitness rooms or guest rooms in the basement.

Via the installed mirrors, there is now also visual contact with the blue sky and the passing clouds. Ventilation of the rooms is still possible through the ventilation slots in the light well cover. In addition, when the window is open, sounds such as birds chirping, can be heard from the garden. Thus, despite basement , there is a connection to the outside world.
