the Mirror Shaft brings daylight into the basement
The Mirror Shaft directs daylight into dark basement rooms, transforming them into living and working spaces full of well-being.
the Mirror Shaft brings daylight into the basement

The Mirror Shaft - briefly explained

A module mirrored on all sides is installed in the existing light well and directs natural sunlight and daylight into the basement. The rooms are flooded with daylight and you get visual contact with the outside world. Depending on the situation, even a clear view of the sky is possible. A completely new atmosphere spreads through the light-flooded basement. The daylight basement rooms can now be used as fully-fledged living and working spaces: whether home office, fitness or hobby room, children's room, guest room, wellness oasis or even living room and kitchen - the possibilities are endless.

    Advantages of the mirror shaft:

    • Brings up to 20x more daylight
    • allows the view outside - from basement !
    • is installed in your existing light well
    • Fits in every cellar light well, as it is always made to measure
    • is mounted in a few hours
    • Transforms your basement rooms into fully-fledged living and working spaces

Customer opinions about the Mirror Shaft

Thanks to several mirror shafts, Dermapraxis AG in Wädenswil (ZH) can also use the basement as a daylight, full-fledged practice.

More than 20 years ago, one of the first mirror shafts was installed in the house of the Artho family. Since then, Peter Artho has used the bright basement room as a music room and is still enthusiastic about the effect of the mirror shaft.

Living room in basement full of daylight

Plenty of daylight for a basement living room full of well-being and sun rays. The two mirror shafts direct daylight far into the room and, depending on the position of the sun, create plays of light in the room. Instead of basement shaft wall, you look directly into the sky - and that from basement ! Outside on the first floor, the walk-in light well cover integrates into the terrace without thresholds. The fresh air supply is further ensured via ventilation slots and the armored glass is provided with a strip-shaped slip resistance. The slip resistance is one of numerous optionswhich allow to equip the Mirror Shaft according to individual wishes.

More daylight in the basement workshop

More daylight in the basement workshop

As part of the conversion of the elementary school, existing basement rooms were converted into classrooms. This raised the question of daylighting. Originally, excavations were planned on the north side to create two atriums. However, the necessary dimensioning of one atrium did not harmonize with the existing architecture of the staircase: the parapet around the atrium would have cut off almost half of the staircase. The solution was found with the mirror shafts from Heliobus. The workroom is supplied with sufficient daylight without any loss of space outside, i.e. the existing architecture can continue to be used optimally. The daylight supply via the mirror shafts could also be guaranteed more cost-effectively than by excavating the atrium.

Dermapraxis AG in Wädenswil can now use the basement rooms as fully-fledged practice rooms thanks to the large amount of daylight that falls into them via the mirror shafts. The previously dark and thus unusable rooms for dermatological purposes were equipped with four generous mirror sh afts. The daylight basement rooms now house a day clinic, an examination room, as well as a preparation room for operations and a meeting room. Five mirror shafts from Heliobus direct the daylight into the basement. The number of children at the Nonnenbach school in Kressbronn has been rising steadily for a few years. For this reason, another movement room and a small group room have been installed in the basement. Inside, the mirror shafts bring in daylight and sunlight; outside, the accessible light well covers of the mirror shafts blend harmoniously into the surroundings.

Daylight in basement thanks to Mirror Shaft from Heliobus

The prerequisite is an existing light well or cellar shaft.

The Mirror Shaft from Heliobus is installed in an existing basement light well and consists of two parts:

        • a light well cover
        • and a mirror module

The high-quality light well cover made of a chrome steel frame and armored glass can be walked on and replaces the usual grating. Ventilation slots in the chrome steel frame ensure sufficient fresh air supply in the basement rooms. The mirror module hangs on the chrome steel frame in the light well without touching it and opens funnel-shaped towards the basement window. Each Mirror Shaft is custom-made, as each light well and the environment above and around it is unique.
